Projects To Do In My Apartment
So to keep help myself on track (and because I'm gonna blog about all these projects) I thought I would make a fun list of all the stuff I want to do now that I have a real apartment I will be in for the forseeable future. I'm in full on DIY/homemaker mode right now and I'm loving it. Decorating an apartment and actually remodeling is so much fun! So here's what I have planned to do. The stuff in bold I've either started or at least procured the materials to start.

23 Random Facts About Me!
In honor of my recent 23rd birthday (yikes, I'm old!), I thought I would post 23 random facts about me! So here goes...
1. I'm a natural strawberry blonde but I love dying my hair. I'm currently mostly my hair color though with a little bit of ombre thrown in thanks to my AMAZING hair colorist, Denis DeSouza @ Andy Lecompte salon.
2. I am obsessed with the Kardashians. Like seriously I cannot get enough of their tv shows/blogs/instagram accounts. Except Kim...she's annoying. The day I sat next to Kylie Jenner while getting my hair done was amaze. Life. Made. Jk.
3. I used to/still do love love love to read books! Anything and everything I can get my hands on I will read like crazy. But...I'm super obsessed with tv shows nowadays. I never really religiously watched tv while younger besides like The OC because I would always rather be reading books, so I'm majorly catching up now. And book reading has gone by the wayside...
4. I didn't know you could buy fresh, non-canned peaches until recently... And I am extremely embaressed to admit that.
5. I am extremely observant. Not much gets past me. I am constantly scanning around me to see whats up and happening. It's pretty hard to surprise me because I'm very aware of my surroundings at all times. I think its because I used to want to be a spy/police officer/Buffy the vampire slayer when I was younger so I turned it into a game of kinda like being observant to like hone my skills I suppose. I didn't grow up and become Buffy (sadly) but my observational skills are still with me.
6. I have 5 tattoos. Most of which are hidden at all times. I have a small white ink cross on my wrist that is visible but not visible because of its color. I don't think anyone has ever noticed it without me pointing it out to them.
7. I grew up in Minnesota but always knew I wanted to leave there and live somewhere else. Winter life is not for me!
8. Summer after high school I was really inspired by some young adult books I read about going off and adventuring and so I moved to Ohio to work at an amusement park called Cedar Point. It was everything I imagined and more. I learned so much about myself that summer it was crazy. I highly recommend doing something crazy like that at some point in your life.
9. I have a really good work ethic. I've been working since I was 16 and I'm very proud of it. I like to always be busy and working kept me entertained while helping me earn spending money. Most of which was likely spent at H&M and Sephora.
10. I am terribly addicted to Starbucks coffee. I love it so much. I know its expensive and all but it's my guilty pleasure.
11. I don't enjoy reality competition tv shows. At all. I literally think they are the stupidest things ever.
12. I have a bad habit of saying "like" and "literally" a lot. Yes, I know it's not grammatically correct. IDC, I do what I want, yo!
13. I'm really good at memorizing song lyrics and I never forget them. Literally the most random Lindsay Lohan song from 2005 or whatever that I listened to three times could play and I bet you I would remember 75% of the lyrics by heart.
14. I recently found out I have some sort of weird metal foreign body in my side. I've had it for years and years. Doctors always just told me it was calcified tissue and nothing to worry about or have removed. I recently had a CT scan done of my abdomen and it revealed that it was likely some small metal object in my side and definitely not organic material. I have absolutely no clue how I got it. I can't recall ever having any sort of cut on my abdomen.
15. I used to wear colored contacts. They were turqoise colored and pretty cool. I now have lasik so no more contacts! I also recently realized I actually have a pretty cool and unique eye color. It's a very very dark blue.
16. I look like I'm mostly Irish (which I am), but I'm also Russian, Polish, and German. My dad is 100% Irish which I've always thought is pretty cool.
17. I have the sweetest dog ever. Her name is Daisy and she lives with my parents in Minnesota. She's a golden retriever and 15 and I miss her all the time. Even though when I see her now I'm pretty sure she doesn't really remember who I am.
18. I love computers and all things tech. I love reading tech blogs and keeping up on all the new products and developments. I don't usually volunteer such info but ask me about it and I will geek the freak out.
19. This is kinda hard. Running out of stuff.... Hmm... I used to play volleyball. I played from age 7ish to about 16. Sadly my volleyball career ended prematurely due to my lack of height. 5'2''ish in case you're wondering.
20. I got my belly button pierced recently at age 22. Such a good choice. I had wanted it done for years but never got it and I'm so happy I did now. I love it. Literally every time I see it in the mirror I get so freaking excited.
21. I spent most of my life not liking avacado and recently discovered how amazing it is. Now I get avocado on literally everything. And I'm known to just eat it...raw...like right out of its skin with a fork.
22. I like to make up fake stories about myself sometimes. This sounds very odd, I know, but sometimes when I'm out at a party or bar and people talk to me who I have no interest in I like to make up the most outlandish things about myself and see how much I can convince people. It is ridiculously fun to do. Usually I go by the name Buffy (my buffy the vampire slayer obsession showing through again)
23. My parents joke that they were gonna name me Buffy and they told my grandparents who were horrified, but jokes on them because as much as I do like my name, I would totally kill to be called Buffy. What an awesome name.

Bedroom is Finally Painted!!
Bedroom = officially painted!!!! Wooo. What a long freaking process. Apparently I am a much slower painter than I though. Who knew? It took me about an hour per wall when I did the coat of paint. Slightly over an hour per wall when I did the primer. And cutting in takes forever but I'm so glad I did it that way versus using painters tape. Painters tape is for the weak! I'm not gonna lie, I didn't perfectly cut in, there's a couple spots I hit on the ceiling with the paint and a couple on the trim but I don't rarely care at the moment. I think it looks pretty good. I'll go over the ceiling spots at some point with some white paint since the ceiling is white. Shouldn't be too hard to paint that over since it's just a couple small spots. And the trim is dying for a new coat of semi-gloss paint and majorly needs to be recaulked like none other so I'll fix up those sometime in the future too. It's so nice to finally have a home and a place I can do stuff in like paint, caulk, etc. I'm loving it and this whole diy thing. I have a whole board on pinterest dedicated to it and such a long list of projects. Like caulking, painting the trim, painting my furniture, wall mounting my tv. It's gonna be a fun couples of months getting this done! My goal is to have my room done perfectly by Christmas time. I think I'm gonna do one project per pay period that way I spread out the money spend and time spent on it. Cause this whole 3 days of painting thing was not my jam.
Oh and a super cute one of me with my respirator and goggles that I used for sanding. Not sure if it's actually necessary to use these when sanding off spackle but it suggested I did and seeing as how I like my lungs as is I followed those suggestions. But god almighty those respirators are HORRIBLE. My breath was so hot and I felt like I could barely breathe. Maybe because I bought a cheap one? Never again. Hopefully.
In case you are wondering the color I used was "Storm" by Benjamin Moore. I used the Regal line so it has no VOC's, yay! I tried out a few paint samples before deciding on this one including the much famed Revere Pewter (wasn't a fan). I've just been on a massive grey kick lately. The first coat didn't go on quite as dark as I would've liked but there is no way I am painting on a second coat anytime soon. No way at all.
I also really need new curtains but since I didn't realize just how expensive they are I had to just stick with some cheap $10 target ones for now. I don't love them but I also don't hate them, and its better then not having anything to block out the light/provide privacy. At some point in the future, nice $50 curtains will be hanging on those walls!
I'm off to watch a movie and drink my beer. I'm super excited to get breakfast with one of my best friends in the morning so I need to be rested! And I've been waking up at like 7 am the past couple days to get painting lol. Jokes. What a bad idea that was.

Life Updates And Since When Is It August??
How is it August already, whaaa??!!! When did this happen? I am not okay with this. Mostly I am not okay with this because I'm afraid that when college time starts I'll see a ton of facebook posts and get super sad because I realize I won't be going back to school ever :/ And that's like the saddest thing ever right now. I think I may be entering a quarter life crisis?? I just cannot believe I'm done with school. Even though I have a job and am working and all that stuff it still feels normal to me because I've worked every summer since I was like 16. So it still seems like I'll be going back to school in 3 weeks, but I won't! Oh well. Guess I'll have to deal. This is what growing up is all about I suppose.
Speaking of, it will be my birthday in a month wooo!!! I am so excited. Even though according to Blink 182 "nobody likes you when you're 23." I will change that. I will be 23 and everyone will love it. Or else. I also get to go home for the weekend of my birthday which will be awesome. I haven't spent a birthday at home in 4 years so it will be super nice and fun to celebrate it with family. I'm really big into going out to a restaurant for my birthday, it's kinda what I love to do. Usually I go with friends, like here in LA I've done big groups at Mas Malo, Pizzeria Mozza, etc. And back home I would do dinner parties with friends for my birthdays in high school pretty much always at Chino Latino which was this fun and hip place. It's still around in Minneapolis but way less fun and cool now. So my parents and I will be going to this place called Borough which I've been to a couple times with friends before and I just adore. They have amazing food and drinks. My parents are super duper traditional when it comes to food and Borough definitely is more on the adventurous side so hopefully they like it. I just need to decide what I want for my birthday now...last year I got a Vitamix which was and is so amazing and like the gift that keeps on giving. And I have no clue what I need/want now. Part of me wants my parents to buy me paint and hire a painter to paint my new bedroom for me but I feel like that's a super duper lame birthday gift so who knows what I'll decide on now! Probably apartment/room decorations and stuff cause I just moved!
I'm SO DANG EXCITED to finally have a place of my own now!! I moved from living near USC to the westside of LA. And let me tell you: I loooooove the westside. It's so fun and chill and relaxed over here. I'm close to the beach and this area just really feels like "LA" to me. More so then the scary and depressed area that is South LA/South Central. I tell ya, it's just so normal and chill over here and I am loving it. I moved in with a cousin of mine so I'm super familiar with the area and her apartment and its awesome. I was so exhausted and tired after packing and moving yesterday that i haven't unpacked a thing here yet. I should probably get on that... I stupidly decided to pack in like a day to move here so it was exhausting and I'm exhausted and I hope I never have to pack/unpack within the next year. Besides like packing a suitcase for trips and stuff because that does not count clearly. I was living in a sublet for July so I packed and moved all of my stuff into there for a month and then had to repack to move here. Although I didn't unpack a ton of stuff at my sublet so it wasn't too horrible to repack. I'm glad I got to stay around USC for a little bit longer but man oh man the frequent moving thing is not something I can handle.
I can't wait to unpack and get everything settled in here. I have like a wishlist of things I want to buy/do now that I'm a real adult and can reasonably get real adult things. I really want to buy a dresser or two from craigslist and completely repaint/finish them because I think that would be so cool and fun to do. I also want to buy a new bed frame and upholster myself a nice headboard. I also want to paint! Which I will be doing super soon. I got paint samples from Orchard Supply last night so I'm deciding between 3 different Benjamin Moore grey colors and then I'm gonna paint my room! I've painted before but not in years so it'll be a fun adventure I think! I also want to repaint the furnishings in my bathroom (I also have my own bathroom HALLELUJAH). I'm really into the whole pinterest/DIY thing right now so we'll see how this goes...
Here's my new room (totally packed and messy still):
**Note: Lilac walls soon to be grey yayyyyy
I also colored my hair a bit. I did a nice little "sombre" aka soft ombre. My hair colorist, Denis at Andy LeCompte salon is a GOD. Literally. He's the best ever. I will probably do a post just on him one day because he is so freaking amazing. Go see him. He will make your hair better then its ever been before. And he legit invented the ombre so yah. Run, don't walk, straight to him!

I Love a Sale
So my favorite store in the history of EVER, Nordstrom, is having their huge massive Anniversary sale right now and you are literally cray if you don't run over and buy this stuff. It's amazing. Beyond amazing to be exact. I got these new shoes:
Nike shoes are prettyyyyy much my new addiction. I wanna buy them all! Tennis shoes are so fun and I live in them for working out/day to day stuff. Seriously. If I'm not at work I am in workout clothes and tennis shoes, legit. Maybe cause looking good and super put together is such a huge part of my job so when I'm off I'm like naaah not putting any effort in today. Leggings and tennis shoes and thats it, I'm done.
I've been crazzzyyyy obsessed with Pinterest lately. I pretty much just discovered it and its addicting and so much fun. So I'm off to pin more for tonight. I'm moving soon so I've been pinterest crazy looking for cute decorating ideas!

Gaming is Hard and Other Things
So I bought myself an Xbox 360 yesterday. Yes, yes, I know the Xbox One is out and all but I decided not to buy it because its pretty expensive and I wanna make sure I actually like playing video games before I invest quiteeee that much into a system. And so far gaming basically makes me want to tear my hair out. So yeah. There's that. Like I literally just spent 30 minutes watching youtube tutorials on how to play FIFA. Because that shits hard. Gaming is hard. Everything is hard. Games should be easy. And yeah.
My life has been alllll about work lately which is fine and cool, but its kinda stressing me out. I love my job and I love my coworkers but I don't love working late at night. At all. And I don't always work nights but when I do I dread it. Like tomorrow I start at 8 which is soooo much more my jam. I love waking up early and going to work and then getting back at like 6ish and having all night to do stuff. I try valiently hard to wake up early every day but if I don't have something pressing I need to be up for...it probably isn't going to happen. Which is why starting work at 8 or 9 am makes me a happier person! Well that plus coffee. Coffee makes everything better.
I also just bought this curling iron called the Sarah Potempa beach waver. I am OBSESSED with it. It works so well. I am the worst at curling my hair. I don't know what it is...I've watched like a million tutorials and had people teach me and I just. Cannot. Do. It. I don't know why I just cannot figure out how to wrap it and twist it and make the curl look good. My curls looked horrifying when I did it myself in the past. Absolutely horrendous. So I like didn't ever curl my hair which is totally sad because I love curly hair. The only time I had curly hair was when I had it done at a salon (which was like never) or when my friend Alex did it for me which was also rare because it took a while and I'm kinda a pain in the ass when people are curling my hair and sorta extremely critical. Like everytime Alex did my hair she probably threatened to stop/burn me/burn my hair off like every 5 minutes if I didn't shut up lol. But this beachwaver is so easy. It like twists automatically and makes perfect curls. I've only used it once so far and it kinda took a while but I'm super excited to keep using it and get better at it and have gorgeous curly hair all the time.
Now I'm off to watch some Keeping Up with the Kardashians (my guilty pleasure) before going to sleeeeeep. Kourtney is my fav. That's all. Good night.

That's all. Good night.

So Much New Stuff
This past week/week and a half has been so nutty. I moved out my apartment into a temporary sublet. It's not even funny how much I miss my old place. Don't get me wrong the new apartment is nice and has AIR CONDITIONING (hallelujah!) but I miss the comfort of my old place. I lived there for two years and it just felt like it was mine, ya know? And I can't help but miss it. It was so nice and comfortable and I was so used to it and this place is new and unfamilar and since its just a sublet it doesn't feel like mine and it's not decorated. In fact all my stuff is pretty much in boxes and bags still which is super fun. Obviously I love that so much...not.
I had to move out in a major hurry because I had to fly home when my aunt passed away unexpectedly. She was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and had a freak allergic reaction to the chemotherapy she was starting and instantly went into cardiac arrest. I'm still devasted and in complete shock by it. I was very, very close to her and it's just so hard to take in and accept still. I think it still almost doesn't feel real to me that she's gone. Life is sad sometimes but I have to look at the brightside and at least she didn't have to suffer long with the pain that is lung cancer. I think it's good to try and find a silver lining in everything and that's my silver lining in her case at least. She's free from suffering.
I also started a new job...eeeeek! It's just temporary for now but I'm working as a salesperson for a company I love and adore. I have a bit of a commute to Santa Monica but it's so worth it. I love my department and my coworkers so far and it's just a fun and great environment to be in. Although I want to spend all of my paycheck there which is soooo not good. Actually today, super awkward, I was helping someone with some sunglasses and he put them on hold and then later came back but I was busy and couldn't help him. I just happened to walk by for a second though and saw him and was like "oh great, you came back for your sunnies" and then did a total double take like OMG I did not just say "sunnies" in front of this like 40 year old man who am I??? And it was awkward and I made an awkward joke about loving abbreviations and then slunk away embarrassed. Because I do. Love abbreviations that is. I abbreviate literally everything. My friends make fun of me for it but I think they secretly love it. It's just so fun and I get a kick out of it. And it's become second nature now for me to say "sunnies" or "tots" or "whatevs". It's just how I speak now. And I think little quirks are funny and cute anyways so who cares.
Anddddd now I'm off to finish this episode of Chuck which I've been marathoning through because I'm obsessed with this show. It's so freaking good. If you don't watch it, check check check it out cause it's amazeballs. And pass out. Cause I had the brilliant idea to wear my Rag & Bone booties alllll day at work today and my feet are sorta killing me and I had a super long day so I'm about ready to PTFO!
