Bedroom is Finally Painted!!

Bedroom = officially painted!!!! Wooo.  What a long freaking process.  Apparently I am a much slower painter than I though.  Who knew? It took me about an hour per wall when I did the coat of paint.  Slightly over an hour per wall when I did the primer.  And cutting in takes forever but I'm so glad I did it that way versus using painters tape.  Painters tape is for the weak!  I'm not gonna lie, I didn't perfectly cut in, there's a couple spots I hit on the ceiling with the paint and a couple on the trim but I don't rarely care at the moment.  I think it looks pretty good.  I'll go over the ceiling spots at some point with some white paint since the ceiling is white.  Shouldn't be too hard to paint that over since it's just a couple small spots.  And the trim is dying for a new coat of semi-gloss paint and majorly needs to be recaulked like none other so I'll fix up those sometime in the future too.  It's so nice to finally have a home and a place I can do stuff in like paint, caulk, etc.  I'm loving it and this whole diy thing.  I have a whole board on pinterest dedicated to it and such a long list of projects.  Like caulking, painting the trim, painting my furniture, wall mounting my tv.  It's gonna be a fun couples of months getting this done!  My goal is to have my room done perfectly by Christmas time.  I think I'm gonna do one project per pay period that way I spread out the money spend and time spent on it.  Cause this whole 3 days of painting thing was not my jam.

Oh and a super cute one of me with my respirator and goggles that I used for sanding.  Not sure if it's actually necessary to use these when sanding off spackle but it suggested I did and seeing as how I like my lungs as is I followed those suggestions.  But god almighty those respirators are HORRIBLE.  My breath was so hot and I felt like I could barely breathe.  Maybe because I bought a cheap one?  Never again.  Hopefully.

In case you are wondering the color I used was "Storm" by Benjamin Moore.  I used the Regal line so it has no VOC's, yay!  I tried out a few paint samples before deciding on this one including the much famed Revere Pewter (wasn't a fan).  I've just been on a massive grey kick lately.  The first coat didn't go on quite as dark as I would've liked but there is no way I am painting on a second coat anytime soon.  No way at all.

I also really need new curtains but since I didn't realize just how expensive they are I had to just stick with some cheap $10 target ones for now.  I don't love them but I also don't hate them, and its better then not having anything to block out the light/provide privacy.  At some point in the future, nice $50 curtains will be hanging on those walls!

I'm off to watch a movie and drink my beer.  I'm super excited to get breakfast with one of my best friends in the morning so I need to be rested! And I've been waking up at like 7 am the past couple days to get painting lol.  Jokes.  What a bad idea that was.

Life Updates And Since When Is It August??

How is it August already, whaaa??!!!  When did this happen? I am not okay with this.  Mostly I am not okay with this because I'm afraid that when college time starts I'll see a ton of facebook posts and get super sad because I realize I won't be going back to school ever :/ And that's like the saddest thing ever right now.  I think I may be entering a quarter life crisis??  I just cannot believe I'm done with school.  Even though I have a job and am working and all that stuff it still feels normal to me because I've worked every summer since I was like 16.  So it still seems like I'll be going back to school in 3 weeks, but I won't!  Oh well.  Guess I'll have to deal.  This is what growing up is all about I suppose.

Speaking of, it will be my birthday in a month wooo!!! I am so excited.  Even though according to Blink 182 "nobody likes you when you're 23." I will change that.  I will be 23 and everyone will love it.  Or else.  I also get to go home for the weekend of my birthday which will be awesome.  I haven't spent a birthday at home in 4 years so it will be super nice and fun to celebrate it with family.  I'm really big into going out to a restaurant for my birthday, it's kinda what I love to do.  Usually I go with friends, like here in LA I've done big groups at Mas Malo, Pizzeria Mozza, etc.  And back home I would do dinner parties with friends for my birthdays in high school pretty much always at Chino Latino which was this fun and hip place. It's still around in Minneapolis but way less fun and cool now.  So my parents and I will be going to this place called Borough which I've been to a couple times with friends before and I just adore.  They have amazing food and drinks.  My parents are super duper traditional when it comes to food and Borough definitely is more on the adventurous side so hopefully they like it. I just need to decide what I want for my birthday now...last year I got a Vitamix which was and is so amazing and like the gift that keeps on giving.  And I have no clue what I need/want now.  Part of me wants my parents to buy me paint and hire a painter to paint my new bedroom for me but I feel like that's a super duper lame birthday gift so who knows what I'll decide on now! Probably apartment/room decorations and stuff cause I just moved!

I'm SO DANG EXCITED to finally have a place of my own now!! I moved from living near USC to the westside of LA.  And let me tell you: I loooooove the westside.  It's so fun and chill and relaxed over here.  I'm close to the beach and this area just really feels like "LA" to me.  More so then the scary and depressed area that is South LA/South Central.  I tell ya, it's just so normal and chill over here and I am loving it.  I moved in with a cousin of mine so I'm super familiar with the area and her apartment and its awesome.  I was so exhausted and tired after packing and moving yesterday that i haven't unpacked a thing here yet. I should probably get on that... I stupidly decided to pack in like a day to move here so it was exhausting and I'm exhausted and I hope I never have to pack/unpack within the next year.  Besides like packing a suitcase for trips and stuff because that does not count clearly.  I was living in a sublet for July so I packed and moved all of my stuff into there for a month and then had to repack to move here.  Although I didn't unpack a ton of stuff at my sublet so it wasn't too horrible to repack.  I'm glad I got to stay around USC for a little bit longer but man oh man the frequent moving thing is not something I can handle.

I can't wait to unpack and get everything settled in here.  I have like a wishlist of things I want to buy/do now that I'm a real adult and can reasonably get real adult things.  I really want to buy a dresser or two from craigslist and completely repaint/finish them because I think that would be so cool and fun to do.  I also want to buy a new bed frame and upholster myself a nice headboard.   I also want to paint!  Which I will be doing super soon.  I got paint samples from Orchard Supply last night so I'm deciding between 3 different Benjamin Moore grey colors and then I'm gonna paint my room!  I've painted before but not in years so it'll be a fun adventure I think!  I also want to repaint the furnishings in my bathroom (I also have my own bathroom HALLELUJAH).  I'm really into the whole pinterest/DIY thing right now so we'll see how this goes...

Here's my new room (totally packed and messy still):
**Note: Lilac walls soon to be grey yayyyyy

I also colored my hair a bit.  I did a nice little "sombre" aka soft ombre.  My hair colorist, Denis at Andy LeCompte salon is a GOD.  Literally.  He's the best ever.  I will probably do a post just on him one day because he is so freaking amazing.  Go see him.  He will make your hair better then its ever been before.  And he legit invented the ombre so yah.  Run, don't walk, straight to him!
